Internationally known railroad artist John Winfield of Fort Worth, Texas, recently produced a painting of Santa Fe locomotive 93 pulling a freight train through the Flint Hills near Matfield Green in 1993. Prints are available for sale by Wichita’s Great Plains Transportation Museum (GPTM) to aid in the organization’s effort to cosmetically restore Santa Fe 93. Donated to the museum by BNSF Railway in 1999, the locomotive was last painted by BNSF predecessor Santa Fe Railway in January 1990. GPTM’s restoration effort was announced in September.
